About Convert tools
The choice comes down to a few rules. JPG is for photographs and cannot store transparency. PNG is lossless and handles transparency, which makes it right for logos, screenshots, and flat colour, and wasteful for photos. WebP generally beats both on size at equivalent quality and is supported everywhere that matters now. ICO is the favicon format, and the converter produces the multiple embedded sizes a browser expects.
Converting between lossy formats re-encodes the image each time, so quality compounds downward across repeated round trips — go back to the highest-quality original rather than converting a converted file. Bulk conversion applies one target format across many files in a single pass.
