The colour picker reports the value under any point you click, in the notations you actually need to paste somewhere: HEX, RGB, and HSL. It is the fastest way to pull a brand colour out of a screenshot, a logo, or a design mockup when nobody can find the original style guide.

Because it samples the rendered pixel, it reflects the image as saved — including any shift introduced by compression. Sampling a flat area of colour gives a more trustworthy reading than sampling near an edge or inside a gradient.
